We had a great first day of classes yesterday with participants from The Academy at Old Cockrill. Students arrived after school to The Carrot Academy kitchen ready to do some cooking! We made a potato and butternut squash soup seasoned with herbs the students hand selected from the garden. We were all amazed with how simple yet delicious the hearty soup was. One student, Alexis, even commented how the soup was, "the best thing she ever cooked."
Students left with the first cooking utensil rewarded to them at the end of each class, this time a potato peeler. They also went home with generous servings of soup.
I am looking forward to our second class together tomorrow. Check back for pictures!
